Meanwhile in Brooklyn

What do Manhattanites do on their weekends?  Go to Brooklyn, of course.

I had grand plans of eating to my heart's content at the Smorgasburg food market, but it turns out that on Sundays the market is held at Brooklyn Bridge Park rather than in Williamsburg (home of the original Saturday market).

So I was a little a lot disappointed when I arrived in Williamsburg looking for ethnic burgers and instead finding myself in a flea market of grungy vegan fashion.

My fault really, but luckily my friend Sarah made the exact same mistake so we caught up for lunch at the coolest little Mexican Pescaderia in Williamsburg.

*drumroll* … Rosarito Fish Shack!

Here are the two lovely ladies I had lunch with.  Sarah (who writes her own NYC blog here) and  Lucy (who works for a start up in the city … so cool, right?!)

After the stress of getting lost, I started lunch with tequila.

The Paloma - tequila, agave nectar, pink grapefruit and soda.

A Mimosa for Lucy.

And a Bloody Mary for Sarah.

This place serves up a mean guacamole.

Then it was the lobster roll for me (I have been eating these non-stop in NYC).

Succulent lobster with red onion, cilantro and chipotle mayo on a buttered roll with slaw and fries.

The marinated chicken quesadilla for Sarah, with Mexican cheeses, guac and sour cream.

And Lucy upstaged us with the short rib taco with avocado-bibb lettuce salad,

The girls shared stories of their awesome New York lifestyles and not so awesome visa complications.

But life in the city sounds like it was worth all the trouble!

I'm a little bit jealous, maybe I want to move to New York too?!

After lunch, the boys finally woke up and met me in Williamsburg.

For some chocolate tasting at Mast Brothers (111 North 3rd Street, Williamsburg, NYC).

It's the bees knees of American hand crafted dark chocolate made straight from their factory here in Brooklyn.

Go on, you know you wanna try some.

There are exotic flavours from Papua New Guinea and Madagascar, sea salt chocolate, smoked chocolate and loads of nutty ones to choose from.

Will and I found chocolate bars to match our outfits.

But don't just stop at the chocolate bars, there are cakes and cookies too.

Willy Wonka would be impressed.

Afterwards, it was time for a coffee stop at Blue Bottle (160 Berry Street, Brooklyn, NYC).

Cold pressed coffee, so hot right now.

Actually … so cold right now ;)

We meandered around Williamsburg all afternoon feeling like true hipsters.

As for Smorgasburg, I'll be back to find it again next time!
