Regatta Day
This morning, I woke up and felt like James Bond.
True story!
Our crew woke up really early (even after a big party night at Vis) and sailed to an old submarine base nearby.
We pulled our dinghy out in the water and I leapt onto it from the yacht.
The big leap was totally unnecessary (as the others could have motored back to the yacht to let me on). But what the hell, I felt like a Bond girl leaping into the boat in my bikini and ready for action.
Away we go! *Start playing Mission Impossible theme song at this point*
It was dark inside the submarine base. I don't know what we were expecting to find, but we certainly didn't run into any secret treasures or villains hiding in the shadows.
With that in mind, we retired from our careers in espionage and returned to our carefree lives as holidaymakers on The Yacht Week.
As it was our final day on The Yacht Week (noooooo!!), there was a regatta between all of the yachts on our route.
Costumes are very important in this regatta. In fact, they're much more important than being the first boat to sail past the finish line.
We came dressed as cowboys ….
And indians!
Hau!
I'm sure we make the most exotic looking indians you've ever seen!
Danny dressed up as neither a cowboy nor an indian. He pulled together his own costume - I'm not exactly sure what he was meant to be?!
We saw some Snow Whites in the distance.
And other crews dressed in matching colours.
Alan and Lucy were probably our two best sailors during the regatta.
I'm proud to report that we were ahead of quite a few yachts and didn't finish last in the end.
Although let's not lie - there were plenty of yachts still in front of us…
But as far as spirit goes, I thought our crew deserved a 10 out of 10!
We sailed back to the marina in Split that afternoon. There was a final party at Vanilla nightclub (with fireworks!), where we stayed until the early hours of the morning.
It was a great night to finish off what had been an absolutely amazing week with new friends and old friends.
