I recently went to Hong Kong for some career related affairs (which I think went well, fingers crossed!). It was a brief whirlwind visit but I did squeeze in a morning hike with some INSEAD classmates who also happened to be in town.

Fred (our HK local and marathon enthusiast) led us up and down the Dragon’s Back - a well-known hike in the east of Hong Kong Island. The path rolls along the ridges from Shek O Peak to Wan Cham Shan, and the green hill tops resemble the shape of a dragon’s backbone. Fred told us that we were on an ‘easy’ trail, but the rest of us felt that a few hours was more than enough hiking for the day.

Afterwards, we caught the bus down to the beach at Stanley and enjoyed lunch by the seaside. There we were joined by Pedro, Maria and baby Lourenço (the cutest baby ever) - who arrived late in typical but endearing Portuguese style.

The best thing about today’s adventure (other than the amazing company) was that it only took a short taxi ride from Hong Kong East to get to. I loved how easy it was to get from the bustle of Hong Kong’s metropolis to beautiful mountains and coastal scenery. But who knows ... I could be living in Hong Kong next year!
