Wild Swimming

Now that the days are reaching 38 degrees celsius in Brisbane, I've been itching to get away to the coast on weekends.

Last Saturday, Jade, Talysa and I raced up the Bruce Highway towards Noosa. We threw our city woes out the car window to live the weekend as carefree beach bums. Bare feet, salt hair, no makeup, and as few clothes as company will allow.

Taking a dip was the first thing on our agenda. But the usual Main Beach wasn't going to cut it. Today, we were on the hunt for a special place called the Fairy Pools.

I never knew this magical little spot was hiding off the coastal path even though I've walked through Noosa National Park many times.

From the lookout at the far eastern end of Granite Bay, we scrambled down the rocks to find our way to the Fairy Pools.

By some stroke of luck, we had the whole place to ourselves. All you could hear were the waves crashing against the rocks interrupted by our laughter as we splashed in and out of the rock pools.

^ My very ungraceful and un-fairy-like entrance.

Relishing in our own private bit of paradise, we sunbathed on the smooth rocks with the gentle sound of the ocean at our feet. Before we knew it, storm clouds started rolling in and it was time to get dressed and go home.
