The Power of Summer
Hey from London!
After four epic months in Buenos Aires, it was time to say adios to Argentina. Danny and I really enjoyed our time living the Porteno lifestyle and we were very sad to leave - but then again, there was summer in Europe to look forward to.
I flew into London to spend a week catching up with friends. The summer sun certainly delivered for the occasion - what can I say, I must have brought the good Australian weather with me :)
And what better way is there to enjoy a long summer day than … an outdoor cinema at a powerhouse station!
It was Michelle's brilliant idea. (Her other brilliant idea was inviting me to stay at her gorgeous apartment in Angel!)
So on Saturday evening, Michelle, Scott and I ventured all the way from Angel to the Battersea Power Station in the south west of London for the Power of Summer - a pop up food and film festival held over the summer months.
Rumour has it they want to redevelop the power station precinct, but in the meantime, the iconic towers are a marvellous backdrop for movie night.
(God, I'm short!)
Make sure you have ample time to stick around either before or after the movie. Or you can skip the movie completely and just turn up for Street Feast - a set up of some of London's best food traders including Le Bun, Spit & Roast, Popdogs, Mama’s Jerk and Anna Maes.
My tastebuds still have memories of that burger from Le Bun. Nom nom.
Lobster rolls - they way to my heart!
And there is a great selection of drinks at the bar too.
After burying ourselves in ceviche, pulled pork buns, confit duck burgers, lobster rolls and a handful of cocktails, we were ready to lie down under the stars and watch our film of choice: Natural Born Killers.
Okay, so a Quentin Tarantino film about psychopathic killers wasn't really my first pick of the film choices … but tickets for the other films had sold out quickly and it was either that or Pinocchio at 4pm.
Anyway, it was an interesting film to say the least and we had the pleasure of watching it in this delicious set up.
Cosy couches, colourful beanbags, soft grass, warm weather and clear skies. Too cute for words.
Naturally we stocked up on drinks and popcorn before entering the 'cinema', and then we were handed colourful earphones to tune into the film.
Ready to tune in!
A splendid summer night at the movies! London, can't you be like this all year round?!
