Just a quick post about how we celebrated the World Cup Final in Buenos Aires.

It was so exciting to see Argentina make it into the final.  They are so passionate about football (soccer) here and it was quite a phenomenon for me to see - I'm so disinterested when it comes to sport generally!

But not even a sports noob like me could escape the hype of the World Cup in a city like Buenos Aires (or anywhere in Latin America, for that matter!).

As promised, I even disguised myself in a sports fan costume for the occasion.

On the afternoon of the final match, Danny and I marched past the Obelisk with some 70,000 other Argentines in the centre of Buenos Aires.

The roads were blocked off and things were getting pretty crazy!

Danny's friends from Italy were in town and we met up as a big group in Plaza San Martin - where they set up live big screens for the matches.

Manon and Alexa joined us too.

Most of the locals looked suspiciously at them as if they could be German (actually Manon is Dutch and Alexa is French).

But the blondes came in their best Argentine colours to celebrate with everybody else.

The screen was low and very difficult to see, especially for a shortie like me.

So I just lurked in the crowd, soaked up the vibe and tooted the horn when I was told to.

In the end, Argentina lost to Germany and we went home soon after the game finished.

I'm glad we did too - what should have been a celebration turned into violence as riots broke out in the city.

It was a good game (and well done to Germany) but obviously a disappointing end for Argentines.
