Spicers Peak Lodge

We were already having the most wonderful morning wine tasting in the Scenic Rim.  I didn't think our day could get any better, until this happened ...

We arrived at Spicers Peak Lodge for lunch.  If you're from Queensland, you'll probably have heard of Spicers Retreats - they're the bees knees when it comes to rest and relaxation.  This retreat is a beautiful and secluded lodge on a mountaintop in the Scenic Rim - it makes you feel quite literally on the top of the world!

Ready to take a 'peak' inside?

Lunch opened with confit ocean trout and spring vegetables.

Something different for the vegetarians (not quite sure what, but Sophie assures me it was delish).

A bit of girly gossip.

Shortly followed by braised lamb with wet maize, broadbean and eggplant.

Which was baah-rilliant, by the way.

And pistachio nougat parfait for dessert.

After lunch, we finished our wines by the fireside and played a few bachelorette games for Michelle.

No pink sashes or silly straws were involved, we're all class here.  Having said that, dirty jokes were still allowed and encouraged!

Then it was pamper time.  Some of the girls went for massages and facials at the day spa, while the rest of us wandered outside to this little piece of paradise.

We enjoyed a different kind of 'day spa' out here ;)

Michelle was looking as radiant as ever on her hen's day out.  Honestly, I think this girl should get married more often so that we can keep enjoying days like this together!

Look, if I had to complain about one thing, it was that the infinity pool was a little cold.

But I can deal with that.

Wine tasting, mountain lodge, three course lunch, fireplace, jacuzzi, infinity pool.  What a day it had been.  We were so happy we wanted to frolic around like little kids.

As the sun set, we retired back to the fireplace for an espresso martini.  Actually, it was more like 20 espresso martinis :D

It had only been a day trip but the entire experience felt a big weekend getaway from the city.  We had the whole of Spicers Peak Lodge to enjoy for ourselves - I felt quite at home and never wanted to leave!  But as they say, all good things must come to an end.
